Invisalign is the contemporary method of gentle tooth correction with invisible braces. Invisalign uses a set of transparent, removable aligners and corrects the patient’s teeth without metal wires. The desired tooth movement is pre-calculated on a computer.
The teeth are moved using precise forces into their desired and calculated position. Oral hygiene is not affected by Invisalign treatment. A Cosmetic Dentist in Annapolis should be the only person performing this type of procedure.
How does it work?
Using a 3D computer graphics procedure, the ClinCheck, a previously defined treatment goal is displayed and subdivided into individual treatment phases. For each of these phases, a special aligner is produced. As with conventional braces, the aligner moves the teeth through the targeted use of controlled pressure.
In each phase, only certain teeth are moved segmentally. These movements are precisely defined in the treatment plan and designed for each individual phase. This results in the efficient and gentle system of controlled pressure application.
The duration of treatment is between about six and 18 months. During this time, the patient will wear each aligner for two weeks and then switch to the next aligner. Each of these aligners moves the teeth into their previously calculated position.
In the course of treatment, the therapy is reviewed by a Cosmetic Dentist in Annapolis at regular intervals. The dentist will schedule routine visits to ensure each tooth moves into the predetermined position.
In many cases, the orthodontist may need to install so-called “attachments” on some teeth for Invisalign to work properly. Attachments are made of transparent plastic holding elements that are applied to the teeth. The scan for the aligner is done with the attachments already in place. If an attachment is lost during treatment, it can be supplemented again by the attending orthodontist.
Benefits of the Invisalign method
Undergoing treatment with Invisalign is a long process, but it is well worth it. People can have their teeth corrected without anyone noticing. The aligners can be removed for eating and oral hygiene, which means the wearer has hardly any restrictions in everyday life and can maintain optimal oral health. Click Here to learn more.
